Cardboard Snake

A giant floor snake made from the packing paper that came in a box.

Sawyer's first blueprint made from packing paper! He saved the crinkly paper that came stuffed in a delivery box, scrunched it into one long rope, and turned it into a snake: a curly tail, a long wiggly body, a big U-turn, and a crumpled-up head.

A grown-up finishes the order. You print it and start building.

What you need

  • Packing paper from a delivery box, about 21 feet of it (one long strip, or a few pieces twisted together)
  • A clear patch of floor about 4 × 9 feet, away from doorways
  • Gentle hands: packing paper tears if you pull too hard
  • A printer, or save the blueprint as a PDF

Did you know?

The longest snakes in the world, reticulated pythons, can grow more than 20 feet long. That's about as long as this paper snake!
